In summary and in the interest of hope
The difference love is making, can make, and will make in organisations, if allowed to flourish, is immense. Its potential to enable the success of all of your people, my people and our people in organisations, in community and in society, the world over is extraordinary. Its impact on the bottom line is only the starting point.
It is a shame that in the world of organisation, and the world generally, we have come to value the material and the financial the vantage of self over others much more than intangible, the immaterial and the non-financial, even though the latter is significantly more fulfilling of our human need and purpose. Let’s think about it. Firstly, the impact on the less important. The operational power of love would have enough momentum to accelerate the earnings of global organisations who today would deem themselves successful on all levels far beyond their own wildest dreams. If global organisations were truly successful, a reduction in world poverty and the advancement of the resolution of climate change would be evident. Success would be increasingly defined not only by the upwards movement of the top and bottom line, the acquisition of market, but by the impact of actions on customers, clients, on the environment and most importantly on your people - what they say, what they feel, what they want and what they need.
When organisations, regardless of their size, have love in them, the net that is cast in order to attract people to their teams and jump on the train of their purpose would be cast wide and far. They would have an intense and genuine curiosity in the nature of the people who would be interested and eventually tempted to join them and align their own individual purpose with that of their hiring organisation. Each and every leader in that organisation would recognise the need and the beauty of leading from a place of love and the substantial benefits that go beyond standard productivity, and commercial gain that will be achieved. They would recognise, also, the potential that the experiences to be had by their new joiners and people could be some of the most enjoyable, most rewarding and fulfilling experiences that would come from connections that will be made. They would recognise, too, the life changing innovations in services, products, contributions and relationships that could be established not only for the outside world but also within the organisation itself.
There would be an establishment of good work - job design, playing to strengths, flexibility and flexible working - and opportunities for fathers and mothers alike regardless of marital status, or organisational status, plus forums virtual and real that enable easy communication and a sharing of ideas and practices; all the advantages of technology that can be possible, provided freely and without condition or the covert monitoring, one measure of constant checking replaced by another made less visible because of technology, yet as untrusting.
Strategic direction will be in line with purpose and a purpose that serves the greater good and the known legacy that can be created.
